Sanjay Sridhar is an Architect and Urban Policy Planner. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from R.V College of Engineering. Before pursuing his graduate studies,Sanjay worked for several years in Ahmedabad with Ar. Bimal Patel and Ar. B.V.Doshi. Heobtained his Master’s Degree from The Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies(I.H.S) , Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands with specialization in Urban Renewal. He also studied at the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy, University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, USA, with specialization in Urban Policy and Housing andInner City revitalization.
Currently, Sanjay Sridhar is the Founder Director of Urban Research Lab (U.R.L) an organization that specializes in understanding of the interconnections between Urban Systems and their components.
He is also the Head of the Heritage Agenda under ABIDe Bengaluru (Agenda for Bengaluru Infrastructure and Development and has successfully put together the draft framework and a demonstration report for formulating a Heritage Policy for the City of Bengaluru along with guidance from Prof. R.J.Vasavada, Professor and Head, Centre for Conservation Studies(C.C.S), CEPT University, Ahmedabad, India.
Sanjay has extensive international experience of working on Architecture, Urban Planning,Urban Design and Urban Policy projects in Europe and USA for over 10 years. He was Director of Callison India, an international Architecture and Planning firm based out of Seattle, Washington. He is currently a consultant with Callison on specialized projects.
Sanjay’s areas of interest are in Urban Policy and Development, Urban Renewal, Urban Design, Urban Planning and Heritage Policy. His research interests in the past and currentlyare in areas of Heritage Documentation, Urban policy research pertaining to formulation and integration of Heritage issues in urban development, Cultural Heritage and its representation and protection/preservation in the formulation of urban developmental policy.
